Our English Program

Partners in English offers a complete learning experience that includes three pathways to your success:

Together, these pathways help you grow in both confidence and skill as you learn English.

Pathways to Success

Classroom Instruction

Each week you will participate in a structured class led by experienced ESL instructors. Lessons focus on practical vocabulary, listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills that you can use in daily life.

Classes are grouped by level from Basic through Level 4 so that you are learning alongside students with similar skills. Placement testing at the beginning of each term helps us place you in the class that best fits your current level.

Online Practice

In addition to the student book, we provide access to online practice resources that extend the classroom learning into your week.

These exercises help you review what you are learning in class and keep it fresh in your mind. You can practice at a time and place that works for you, using a phone, tablet, or computer. Regular practice between classes is one of the most important ways to make steady progress in English.

Conversation Partners

When available, we connect students with conversation partners for one‑on‑one practice sessions at no additional cost.

Conversation partners give you a safe, friendly environment to practice speaking, ask questions, and build confidence using English in real‑life situations. Depending on availability, some students may need to wait until a suitable conversation partner becomes available, and we may maintain a waiting list to ensure good matches.

Progress and Assessment

We test student levels at the beginning of the program and at the end of each year to confirm that students are making progress.

Additional assessments at the end of each unit help us identify areas where you may need extra practice or support. Our goal is for every student to move forward in English with clear evidence of growth.

Learning For All Learners

At Partners in English, we understand that not everyone learns the same way, and we know that everyone benefits from multiple pathways. Classroom instruction ensures that everyone receives the information needed to progress, but one or two classes per week are not enough to succeed in your English journey.

We also provide online resources that you can access via a computer or smartphone when it is convenient for you, for example, on a break from work, waiting to pick up your children or while eating your lunch. These exercises enable you to review what you are learning in class and keep it fresh in your mind. We see a correlation between the time students spend with online content and their test scores.

Finally, we have a limited number of conversation partners who volunteer to meet with students at no extra charge. Their time is a gift to you, supporting your hard work. They want to help you succeed. Students typically meet with their conversation partner for 30 minutes each week to practice their English and chat about life, work, family, goals and interests. These meetings can occur at a coffee shop, a local park or by phone or video conference. Conversation partners develop an ongoing relationship with students and often form friendships. Depending on availability, some students may need to wait until a suitable conversation partner becomes available.

Conversation Partners are a distinctive part of our program and an important factor in our students’ success, so we work hard to find the right partner for you.
